The campus has resources to help you prepare for and respond to an emergency.
Find fire prevention and safety information here, and earthquake safety information here.
In the event of an emergency, the campus will implement emergency procedures. A siren will sound to alert you of an emergency.
Sign up for WarnMe, the campus-wide automated system that will provide information about what to do in the event of an emergency.
WarnMe
WarnMe is UC Berkeley’s alerting and warning service for students, staff, and faculty. It is activated to contact you when there is an immediate threat to safety or health affecting the campus community. WarnMe can alert you by email or text — you choose the best ways to reach you.
- You are automatically signed-up to receive emails via your Berkeley account.
- You must opt in to receive text messages or emails at a different email account at: warnme.berkeley.edu.
Campus Emergency Siren System
This siren is tested on the first Wednesday of every month at noon. When you hear campus warning sirens that are not a scheduled drill, remember the following:
SHELTER—SHUT—LISTEN
SHELTER: Go and stay inside.
SHUT: Shut all doors and windows.
LISTEN: Stay tuned for information from WarnMe, go to Berkeley News or emergency.berkeley.edu, or listen to KALX 90.7FM for instructions.
