Be a Role Model and Mentor
The Resident Faculty play an integral role in helping residents grow and succeed academically. As members of the Residential Life team, Resident Faculty provide a connection between in-classroom and out-of-classroom learning.
Faculty members in the Resident Faculty program serve as liaisons between students and faculty, and promote the intellectual stimulation of students living on campus. Resident Faculty devote at least eight hours per week toward the goal of helping students bridge academic and residential aspects of the undergraduate experience. Resident Faculty also work closely with the Residential Life staff of Resident Assistants (RAs) and Resident Directors (RDs), to promote a culture of academic success, diversity, and community in the residence halls.
“Our job and privilege is to introduce students to the intellectual life of the Berkeley campus. We want them — each and all — to feel comfortable with us as faculty members and individuals who can provide guidance in their academic development and in their personal lives.”
Professor Genaro Padilla, former Resident Faculty member at Clark Kerr Campus.
